Jeff is one of those guys that you just love to be around. He’s always got a smile and something funny or nice to say (unless he is losing at Settlers of Catan). Audiences love his witty intelligence and lively energy.
Jeff first fell in love with improv comedy as a student at Calvin College in Grand Rapids, Michigan. Like most of us, improv fit who Jeff was and became a welcomed creative outlet for both Jeff and his audiences. Upon graduating from Calvin and beginning real life with a real job, Jeff soon realized, as we all do, that improv is a drug. He began searching for a way to keep doing what he loved. Luckily, he didn’t have to look too far. A group of other Grand Rapidians ran an award-winning, local team called River City Improv. The cast was made up of other part-time performers who were addicted to performing improv comedy. Jeff joined RCI the summer after graduation.
Around the same time, now fellow Squad member, Pete Vandersluis, was ramping up his own improv team, the now legendary CPR Improv Comedy as a full-time business/ministry. They needed a new, talented third member and heard about Jeff through connections at church (as in Pete had a friend named Lisa who knew Jeff and apparently had a major crush on him because she is now Jeff’s wife). For the next five years, Jeff performed full-time with CPR all over the United States.
When The Panic Squad recruited him in 2007, Jeff was fast-tracked through the elite comedy agent training program due to his previous training with RCI and CPR. He needed only complete the shock therapy, brainwashing and rebooting, and he was good to go. Jeff currently lives in Grand Rapids with Lisa and their two daughters. About the only thing Jeff loves more than performing improv is spending time with his family.
